The Boarding Facility
Located in Pickens County, Georgia in the foothills of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, North Star is a small farm with a nearly new barn, a 20m x 40m indoor arena and access to beautiful mountain trails. There are 10' x 12' stalls with daily turnout, hot and cold wash rack, air conditioned tack room and break room, automatic waterers, fly spray system, individualized feeding 2 x daily, and assistance with vet and farrier visits.

The Lesson Program
North Star specializes in adult beginners and those who want to improve their skills or need a 'tune up'to get back into riding. We also have a few spaces for children ages 11+. Group or private lessons are available.

• A centered riding approach develops security and balance in the saddle and transfers easly to all disciplines.

• Ground work based on natural horsemanship principles develop a willing partnership.

• Arena exercises and games develop fitness/agility for mind, body, and spirit.

• Exercises and arena games develop straightness, obedience, agility and fitness.

• Trail training and obstacles course increase your pleasure and/or get you ready for NATRC competition.

Training / Consulting
Foundation training involves groundwork designed to improve communication and connection with your horse. Quality time in the saddle encourages the horse to be quiet, balanced and responsive to the aids. Simple basic dressage work will bring out the best in any horse. We will consult on

• Selecting and purchasing the perfect mount in your discipline

• Equipment issues - saddle selection and fitting, bits and bridles

• Stable management and daily care for your horse

• Understanding/communicating with your farrier and veterinarian

• Nutrition and conditioning for trail horses

• Selecting a trailer or truck for transporting your horse

Programs / Clinics / Workshops
Have fun with an equestrian get-away alone or with friends! Bring your horse for the day, weekend or week. Try overnight primitive camping under the stars or stay in a rustic mountain cabin close by. Treat yourself to guided trail rides on the property and daylong trailering trips to nearby Dawson Forest, and Jake and Bull Mountains. Enjoy monthly experiential workshops/programs such as:

• Personal growth, self discovery and leadership through the "Way of the Horse"

• Fitness for equestrians using yoga, pilates and massage

• Natural hoof care (barefoot horses)

• Dressage for the trail horse

• The silent language of animals and nature
